What is a Mental Health Safe Zone?

Mental Health Safe Zones are organizations and businesses that have met suicide prevention and mental health promotion standards and are guided by nationally recognized best practices.

What is the purpose of Mental Health Safe Zones?

The purpose of this initiative is to help our spaces support individuals who may experience mental health challenges by visibly identifying their business or organization as a space free from mental health stigma and a place to get mental health resource information.

Who can qualify as a Mental Health Safe Zone?

Any organization or business in Yamhill County has the capability of becoming a Mental Health Safe Zone. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Businesses
  • Civic organizations
  • Faith spaces
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Social service agencies
  • Schools

Ready to become a Mental Health Safe Zone?

If your leadership team has not completed a suicide prevention training, request an in-person training or complete our Self-Paced Virtual Suicide Prevention Training in English or Spanish.

If you need suicide prevention resources, request free resources.

Once you have met the requirements to be an Mental Health Safe Zone, please fill out an applicationAfter you submit your application, the Suicide Prevention Coordinator will reach out to you as soon as possible.
