Property Tax Statements and Payments
Statements
- Statements are only mailed once per year, by October 25. No statements will be mailed for the second (February 15) and third (May 15) due dates.
- You must notify us if you have a mailing address change. Even if you do not receive a tax statement, you must pay your taxes.
- If you sign up for eNoticesOnline, you will only receive an electronic copy of your statement. Check your junk or spam folder if you cannot locate it.
- If you are assessed for both real and personal property, you will receive a tax statement for each. If you own and live in a mobile home and own the land on which it is located, you may receive two tax statements. One will show taxes on the mobile home. The other statement will show taxes on the land and permanent fixtures such as outbuildings. These are referred to as improvements.
Payments
- Payments are due on November 15, February 15, and May 15.
- You can get a 3% discount if you pay in full by November 15, or a 2% discount if you pay 2/3 of your yearly tax by November 15.
- By law, we must apply all payments to the oldest year of taxes owing. To get a discount on your current year's bill, all delinquent taxes, penalty, and interest must be paid.
- Taxes of less than $40 cannot be paid in installments.
- Interest accrues at the rate of one and one-third percent each month. It accrues on the 16th day of each month after the tax is due.
- State law requires us to recognize the USPS postmark date as the payment date. If you are mailing your payment close to the due date, we suggest that you go to a post office and request that they hand-cancel your envelope.
